What is a SIPP?
Self Invested Personal Pension Plans commonly known simply as SIPPs can offer clients access to a wider range of investment options and more freedom to control their own pension plan, when compared to traditional Personal and Stakeholder pensions. SIPPs are offered by a range of providers and the SIPP administrator operates the scheme in accordance with HMRC regulations and guidelines. We continuously research different SIPP providers that offer the facility for clients to invest in a range of investment schemes that may not be traditionally available through a conventional personal pension.
Most tradtitional insurance companies can offer basic SIPPs which allow clients to access to a wide range of funds both internally and externally. We can also recommended providers who offer acsess to a full SIPP which often allows clients the option to invest in a further range of HMRC permitted investments which can provide even more investment diversity to a clients pension portfolio. Here is a few of the types of investments that a SIPP will allow access to:
- Commercial Property
- Structured Products
- Trustee Investment Plans
- Offshore Investment schemes
If you would like to discuss the possibilities of arranging a SIPP or wish to discuss the different types of investments please ask. The range of investments options available will depend on your overall attitude to risk.
You may think that due to the extra flexibility and investment choice that the SIPP provides, the cost to invest in a SIPP will be expensive. This is not actually the case as the SIPP providers have a set charging structure so there are no hidden fees. A fee is charged for setting up the SIPP, and there is also an annual cost for the administration of the SIPP. In some cases additional fees can be charged for investing within certain investment schemes and funds. As part of our advice we will compare the costs of a SIPP when compared to a conventional Personal Pension.
